After five years since its 2007 appearance here in Malaysia, the Suzuki Grand Vitara, distributed by Suzuki Malaysia Automobile (SMA) Sdn Bhd, finally gets its first revision with a newly revised front bumper, 17″ alloy rims, the inclusion of Gaia Bronze Pearl Metallic as a new colour, new seat fabric and door inserts as well as Suzuki’s new safety system – the brake over-ride system.
What this new system does is that should the accelerator pedal get stuck, the system will disengage the throttle – thereby cutting power, when the brakes are applied. Hence, the revised Grand Vitara will not allow for any left-foot braking of the sort.

The rear seats are both foldable and reclinable, which allows the minimum 398L of boot space to be expanded to a maximum of 1,386L. Currently, there are five colour choices available for a commanding price of RM121,100 (OTR+ Ins), which are Bluish Black 3, Metallic Grey, Pearl White, Silky Silver and the addition of a new colour – Gaia Bronze Pearl Metallic.

The revised Grand Vitara still utilizes the same 2.0L (J20A) 4-cylinder petrol engine that’s mounted in-line under the hood and may be down on ponies at 138bhp at 6,000rpm, but thankfully it makes up for in terms of torque with 183Nm at 4,000rpm. The in-line 4 mounted engine is mated to a conventional 4-speed A/T and has ventilated discs for both front and aft to help the Grand Vitara’s 1,665kg kerb weight to get to a stand-still, while 17″ alloy rims wrapped by 225/65 tyres are charged with grip duties.
